# 3.1 住宿

## 住校內或是校外？

一般建議住校內，主要原因是離學校近，可以省去舟車勞頓。而且鄰近宿舍也方便參與課程討論與參加課外活動。校外租屋需要煩惱的事情比較多，當然也有離學校近的公寓，例如 Sidney Pacific 對面的 Furnished Quarters，及Media Lab斜對面的100 Memorial。

## On-campus 宿舍

新生幾乎只要申請就會有，但是近幾年的抽中率似乎在下降。舊生要繼續住宿舍的話， 抽中的機率較低。宿舍所附的家具或廚房與衛浴設備有問題可打電話找維修人員來修。 一般建議第一年新生盡量抽宿舍住，等一年較為適應後，再考慮是否要搬出去，並且人在這邊後，找房子也比較方便。

較新宿舍（Sidney Pacific (最熱門), Ashdown, Warehouse）較高級亦較貴。Warehouse 除非當 Resident Officer，不然只有第一年的學生有資格入住。若租金是主要考量，可以考慮Tang Hall（無冷氣）及校外。

Eastgate 及 Westgate 為家庭宿舍，無家俱。

## Off-campus 租屋 (千萬小心詐騙)

住校費用與校外附近同級住所約較低。在離學校較遠的地區通常可以找到較便宜的住所， 但需考慮交通的便利性。地鐵紅線可達的地點，如Porter Square、Davis生活機能佳，安全且租金較低，是不錯的選擇。

過於便宜的房子可能有問題，不要考慮。除了Kendall與Central，Harvard Square附近的房子是Cambridge一帶最貴的。 可以問學長姐有無認識的朋友要租屋，或是找室友。

## 購置家具

在在美國家具價格十分昂貴，同學大多購自學生的moving sale。因家具耐久，所以雖是二手貨，仍十分耐用，價格也很合理（各公佈欄可見到廣告）。[MIT Furniture Exchange](/rocsa-student-handbook/mit-rocsa/20182019-bu.md)可以列入考慮，在那買的家具可於日後以部分價格賣回。此外，可到IKEA（需開車才可到達，但有提供付費運送服務，可自行衡量是否划算。學期初宿舍會舉辦IKEA Trip）、Office Max、Economy Hardware，或Galleria的Sears買新家具。可以問學長姐有無認識的朋友要賣或送家具。

另外各宿舍在暑假八月搬出潮 （a.k.a Somerville Christmas）時，可以多走走逛逛，撿別人不要的免費傢俱和用品，也可以關注宿舍內部信箱住民發布贈送物品的通知。

## 抽不到宿舍

若抽不到宿舍又暫無住所，可考慮以下兩個方案。

* Airbnb
* 朋友家couch-surfing
* 找別人的轉租
